An ear is like an appendix

    Hello all:

This thought has been running through my mind for months and I felt I had to express this thought, as it is a muse of my own. Here it is below:

The ear is a distraction to real life. It creates illusions and abstract words. The ear is like an appendix. It is not necessary for survival. The ear is on the other side of the wall (of the skull), on the outside. It is a mechanical device that processes sound and sends the information through a network of wires (nerves) toward the brain. On the other hand (no pun intended) the eye has front row seat view of life unfolding all around. The eye is the extension of the brain; it is the brain. Outside information runs through the eye and goes directly to the brain, spot on. It assimilates information at the speed of light three-dimensionally, and in turn for output creates specific and direct semantics in expression form known as sign language. Regarding implants and other oral pedagogy machine, why should we Deaf-Mutes be forced to acquire hearing problems? Do not force your (hearing people) issues on us. We are not the problem. The ear is the problem.

The ear is open 24/7. Like 7-11. It receives all sorts of sounds from pleasant to unpleasant daily grind of noises. It behaves like a person annoyed 24/7. Music serves a soothing remedy to a full frontal onslaught of other noises. How then can a hearing person truly understand not hearing anything at all? Thus, a person who can hear cannot truly rest but only at night, when it is quiet. For a deaf person, for 24/7, the distractive ear does not interfere the mind of its daily process of living data through the brain (eyes) sitting at the front row. The distant ear becomes annoyed and oppresses the eye. I imagine, as a muse, that hearing drivers using the cell phones are risky drivers than the deaf using pagers while driving because the deaf utilizes the eyes while driving and using the pager whereas the hearing drivers primarily is using the ear which overtakes the visual input. I see this all too often that they talk on the phone and forget to see things in front of them.

The ear, rather, is a distraction and a threat to survival. Like a burst of an appendix. A burst of noise.

What we have—the visual communication at the speed of light and handy capabilities is a gift by nature’s designs. Are hearing people jealous of deaf people but do not realize it?

    What do you think?

    Cheers,

    Aslian
