CI implantees are just deaf people too, it doesn’t always follow they or acquired and deafened people will adopt culture, if there is a wider community (I don’t really see this except on paper), then they are part of that, we are all different cest la vie. I don’t think being nasty towards those who feel culture isn’t for them, or they already have a different one, we are all a product of our upbringing. I think most of us accept we are deaf, and go about it our own way, the ‘community’ would be a far better place if there wasn’t these divisions and rules set up, there are so many implanted now, it really does not make sense to continually be aggressive towards them. Why shouldn’t they be in and out of the cultural thing, you should be grateful they take the trouble… most sign anyway I can’t understand the animosity some give out, they perhaps can only be ‘part time’ cultural deaf.
